Haciendo referencia a las creencias de los pueblos nativos americanos el significado de los tatuajes de búho se asocia a la sabiduría, previsión y a la función de estos animales como guardianes del conocimiento sagrado. Los hay de distintos tamaños y colores, pero los mas bonitos son los blancos y negros con sombreado de tamaño pequeño-mediano.
